Sayville is one of those towns that has it all, from the quaint specialty shops to the bevy of great restaurants. But if you had to pick one place to spend your hard-earned money on lunch or dinner, make it the newly opened Butera’s on South Main Street.

With existing locations in Woodbury, Smithtown and Seaford, this South Shore eatery offers some of the best family-style Italian cuisine and friendly service around. The restaurant certainly puts the family in family-style as the establishments are owned and operated by Martin Butera, himself, along with his wife, Laurie, Martin’s brother, Gary Butera, and partner and chef, Nick Zografos.

Customers may recognize manager Jerry Marlow as the former co-owner of Sayville’s Collins & Main and most recently, the manager of CU 29 Wine Bistro. Marlow assures me that Butera’s winning formula of high quality fare at reasonable prices is what has made the restaurant so successful. With a revamped menu ideal for large groups and families, generous portions serve two or more people, although individual items can be made upon request.
