Event by Aztec Two-Step and WUSB CONCERT BILLBOARD
Boulton Center For The Performing Arts
Soon after Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman met at a Boston open mic night in 1971, they were signed to Elektra Records and burst on the scene with their self-titled debut album, Aztec Two-Step, becoming staples of FM progressive and college radio. With over 40 years of non-stop touring, critical acclaim, honors and awards, they connected with a devoted fan base. Neal retired in 2018 but that wasn't the end of Aztec Two-Step.
Rex, known for his distinctive voice and intelligent and thought-provoking songwriting, continues the legacy with his wife Dodie Pettit and their expanded band Aztec Two-Step 2.0. His new bandmates have immersed themselves in the ATS catalog, adding new layers of sound reminiscent of the original studio recordings. Going back to 1980, Dodie appeared as a guest musician on Aztec's The Times of Our Lives album, so she already had a head start on the music.
Their joy in being on stage as a band performing these songs is evident, and their personal and musical chemistry is undeniable. They have endeared themselves into the hearts of old and new fans alike. "The old songs done in Rex's new lineup have brought new life to the music. This truly is a band that people need to experience!" - Ron Olesko, WFDU-FM / Folk Music Notebook.
