The Sea Basin Restaurant has been family owned and operated since 1980. When owner and chef, Hasan ("Spiro") Karachopan, opened the Sea Basin Restaurant in Rocky Point, New York, it originally served roughly 40 people. In 1984, Spiro expanded the Sea Basin and increased its serving capacity to 100 people. In 1987, the Sea Basin once again underwent major construction. This time, Spiro built an upstairs dining room, where he caters private parties to up to 80 people. Throughout the last ten years, Spiro has constantly renovated and improved the interior and exterior of his establishment.
